About the Library: Borrowing

Borrowing Library Materials

Library Cards

An active library card (MCC college ID) is required to borrow Library materials.

For Alumni & Community Members

To receive a Community Member Library card, please complete the Library Patron Form (available from Library Services Desk) and present a photo id and documentation with a current address.

Loan Periods

  • Books - 3 weeks
  • Videos - 3 days
  • Journals, Magazines, Newspapers - Library Use Only
  • Reference materials - Library Use Only
  • Anatomy Models - Library Use Only

Materials may be renewed by phone or in person on or before the due date.  Failure to return materials in a timely manner may result in a replacement fine and bill issued to borrower.  All materials must be returned and all replacement fines paid before the end of the semester, or hold will be placed on accounts with the Bursar's office, resulting in delayed grades, diploma's, etc.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

For Current Students, Faculty, and Staff

Items that are not located at this Library can be obtained through interlibrary loan from other CCSNH libraries, or libraries within the United States. Interlibrary Loan items may take up to two weeks to arrive. Plan ahead for materials that will be needed for papers and projects.

More information about Interlibrary Loan.

Course Reserves

Some instructors place textbooks on "course reserve" for students to use in the Library. Reserve items are kept at the Library Services Desk and can be checked out for two hours with a current MCC ID. To see all books on Reserve, see the Course Reserves guide.

Note: The MCC Library does not have copies of every required textbook. Sometimes we have earlier editions of textbooks.

Returning Library Materials

Book Drop

There are two book drops in which to return materials:

  • On the side of the Library Services Desk facing the entrance.
  • Outside the Learning Commons entrance.

Overdue Materials / Replacement Fees

The Library does not charge fines for overdue materials.  However, library users will receive several notices with instructions to return overdue items. Users who fail to return overdue materials after an extended period of time will be billed for replacement of the materials.  Students with bills will have a hold placed on their accounts through the Bursar's Office, preventing registration for classes or graduation.

Theft or Destruction of Library Materials

Destruction or theft of library materials is a serious offense. Anyone caught stealing or destroying materials will be brought before the disciplinary group, and will be billed for their replacement.
